President's Message

Dear SCCHA Members,

That's a Wrap on Our Buckle Series!

We've officially wrapped up another successful Buckle Show series! Congratulations to all our buckle winners and everyone who came out to compete throughout the season. It's been fun watching the friendly competition, seeing riders challenge themselves, and cheering each other on. Whether you went home with a buckle or simply enjoyed a day on horseback, we hope you had a great time. I especially want to recognize Yvonne Lee, who faithfully organizes our Play Days and Buckle Series year after year. I don't think everyone realizes just how much work goes into making these events happen. Yvonne takes it all on, year after year, and makes it look easy (although we know it isn't!). Yvonne, thank you for the countless hours, patience, and dedication you give to this club. We are incredibly fortunate to have you!

4th Annual Fall Festival Open House – October 3, 3:00–6:00 PM

We're kicking off October with our 4th Annual Fall Festival Open House on Saturday, October 3! This is a great opportunity to open our gates to the community, introduce new people to SCCHA, and share a little of what makes our club so special. I hope you'll come out, bring your family and friends, and help us welcome visitors to the grounds. And, of course, a big thank-you to all the volunteers who help bring it all together. Whether you're setting up, helping with activities, or lending a hand wherever needed, we couldn't do it without you. It's this willingness to pitch in that makes SCCHA such a great club to be part of.

Saddle Up for Another Camping Weekend! October 16–18

If you haven't joined us for one of our camping weekends, October might be the perfect time! We've got three days of riding, food, music, games, and plenty of time to enjoy each other's company. Camp for the weekend or just come out for the activities that interest you.

Friday, October 16 – Chili Cookoff, General Meeting & Game Night

We'll start the weekend with our General Meeting and Dinner, featuring our Chili Cookoff! Bring your appetite and get ready to enjoy some homemade chili. We'll also be taking nominations for our Board of Directors, so this is an important meeting for members who want to help shape the club's future. After dinner and club business, stick around for Game Night from 9:00–10:30 PM. It should be a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Saturday, October 17 – Ride, Relax, Dance & Enjoy the Music!

Saturday is all about enjoying the horses and the company. Head out for a ride at one of our beautiful local parks, spend some time riding on the club grounds, or simply relax and enjoy the day. At 6:00 PM, we'll gather at the clubhouse for a potluck dinner, followed by some poker fun. We'll also have line dancing and live music by Wain Famous! Whether you're ready to hit the dance floor or would rather sit back and listen to the music, it promises to be a great evening.

Sunday, October 18 – Gaited Horse Show

We'll close out the weekend with our Gaited Horse Show starting at 9:00 AM. Come out to participate or support our riders and enjoy watching these beautiful horses in action. If showing isn't your thing, it's another opportunity to saddle up and explore the local parks.

Your Club, Your Voice – Board Nominations

As we head into the final months of the year, it's also time to start thinking about who will help lead SCCHA into 2027. We'll be accepting Board nominations at our October 16 General Meeting, and I encourage members to consider getting involved. You don't need to have all the answers or years of Board experience. What matters is that you care about the club, are willing to contribute, and want to be part of keeping SCCHA moving forward. If you've ever thought about serving, I hope you'll consider putting your name forward or encouraging someone else who would be a great addition.

I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Festival, around the campfire, on the trails, or maybe even on the dance floor!

Happy trails,

Tami Moore, SCCHA President
