President's Message

Dear SCCHA Members,

We may be early into the year, but your board is already off and running, and so are some exciting upgrades for our club!

Big News: New HVAC System Coming Soon!

At our January General Meeting, members voted to approve funding for a brand-new HVAC system for the clubhouse. Just days after the vote, we received a third contractor bid that came in roughly $5,000 less than the original approval amount without compromising on quality or efficiency. We’re happy to report that the Board has voted to move forward with this more affordable option, and work is expected to begin in the next few weeks. We’ll keep you posted on installation timing, so stay tuned!

This is a great example of how your participation and input directly improve the comfort, function, and long-term sustainability of our shared spaces. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting, asked good questions, and helped move this project forward.

Club Life in Full Swing

From parades to play days to potlucks, our calendar is starting to fill up. We’ve got big plans for 2026, and this early momentum is a great sign. Whether you’re brand new to the club or a longtime member, there’s always a way to get involved, contribute, or just stop by and enjoy the community.

Got an idea for a new event? Want to host a workshop, lead a ride, or start a barn day with friends? Let us know—we love when members bring new energy to the arena.

Happy trails,

Tami Moore, SCCHA President

Come one, come all to the dinner/meeting February 20 6:30pm-9:00pm.

SWAP PARTY "Sip and Swap" 3/21/26

Come to the super fun SWAP Party.  Bring your nice clothes, shoes, boots, jewelry, or belts.   Swap for something else you might like to have.  You can swap as many things as you bring.  Your turn to pick and item is based on your poker hand.  (Don't worry, you don't know how to play poker - you just have to pick a card.)

This should be a fun party, playing poker, exchanging clothes, sharing potluck, and enjoying the beer and wine bar.

Prior Events

Our January General Meeting and Dinner kicked off the new year in festive style! New Beverage Counter Director, Amy Monahan, decorated the bar with lanterns, flowers and snack bowls. Her sweet smile greeted each members' drink request including a few young members who chatted the night away on the counter stools and requested a soda. A huge round of applause to all those who entered our Soup Contest. After all the rain from previous weeks, it was comforting to gather 'round and try the warm and very delicious recipes. What fun we all had in taste testing each recipe before casting our vote.

5th Place: Linda Carcione - Split Pea Soup

4th Place: Liz Kehoe - Meatball Soup

3rd Place: Stephen McHenry - Shrimp, Bacon & Queso Soup

2nd Place: Nivi Ramakrishnan - Spicy Coconut Bean Soup

1st Place: Kunal Sinha - Potato, Celery & Bacon Soup

THANK YOU to Jayne Hesley who counted all the voting sheets and announced our winners.

Rescued Hearts Documentary Movie was a breathtakingly powerful movie. A group of us: Pam Robb, Mary Billingsley, Michele Hiatt, Liz Kehoe, Lauré Chicoine and Rachael Parakh attended last Saturday, when it was shown at the Los Gatos theater. The film follows many real life stories of healing with horses and the incredible capacity horses have in taking us on a journey into our own hearts. Below is a link to the trailer, how to host for a screening, the title soundtrack, donation page and also the one week it will be streamed online. Trust us when we say you'll want to watch this movie over again.

Junior Program:  Our new Junior Hoofbeat Director, Marissa Nebenzahl, introduced our association to her children's Sunset 4-H Group. They are looking to partner with us for their Community Service Project. They invited Rachael Parakh, our Public Relations Director, to present at their club meeting last month. After discussing our club history and the unique benefits of horses, Rachael brainstormed project ideas with the 4-H youth. Since they are a creative and artistic group, they decided to paint a mural on our Snack Shack — just in time for our Playday series and other exciting workshops. This mural will pull elements from our association logo which Yvonne Lee raised money to have painted on the front wall of our clubhouse. We promise to keep you updated as the project unfolds. Thank you Sunset 4-H.
