President's Message

Dear SCCHA Members,

March has arrived, bringing with it the promise of springtime rides, green pastures, and one of our most treasured member dinners of the year. With warmer weather on the horizon, there’s no better time to reconnect with our community and celebrate the season together.

St. Patrick’s Day General Meeting – Friday, March 21

Get ready for some good food and great company at our upcoming General Meeting on Friday, March 21—a night you won’t want to miss! We’ll be serving up the member-favorite St. Patrick’s Day meal: corned beef and cabbage. It’s a tradition our members look forward to each year, and we can’t wait to share it with you once again.

The evening will kick off with a social hour at 6:30 PM, giving everyone a chance to catch up, share stories, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere before dinner and the meeting begin. So bring your appetite and don’t forget to wear your green—after all, who couldn’t use a little extra luck this year?

Looking Ahead to Spring Activities

As the weather warms up, we’re looking forward to trail rides, clinics, and more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors together. Keep an eye on your inbox and our website for upcoming event announcements—you won’t want to miss out!

As we celebrate the luck of the Irish this month, let’s also celebrate the luck we have in belonging to such an incredible community. Here’s to a March filled with laughter, friendship, and memorable rides.

Happy trails,

Tami Moore, President

Tails & Tires Trail Safety Workshop

Tuesday, March 18th from 4:30- 6:30pm

Trail Safety Advocacy is an important part of our club mission! Liz Kehoe, Jennifer Lien-Gonzalez, Yvonne Lee, Lori Carr and Rachael Parakh are leading a workshop with San Jose Composite on March 18th. The Composite Team is a youth mountain biking group led by Jessica Tseng.

This workshop will focus on: LEARN (horse physiology and behavior) WATCH (demonstrations of safe passing on a trail) and PRACTICE (youth ride a horse and then pass a horse on their own bike).

This workshop is made possible by Curt Kruger with the Slow & Say Hello! program under the Trail Partners Foundation in Marin, CA. We are grateful to partner with our local mountain bikers and look forward to educating the next generation of safe trail users!

I started riding at 5 years old  at our family farm in Michigan. My maternal grandma was influential in my horse training and career. We moved to Connecticut when I was in the 5t grade and I competed in children's Hunter classes.  Then I moved to California Sophomore year of high school and continued to show until college.  I found my way back to horses 13 years ago when I purchased my current horse-- Dakota-- where I switched to Western and trail rides!
