President's Message

Dear SCCHA Members,

As we welcome the fall season, I hope this newsletter finds you all in good spirits. The cooler weather and changing colors bring a special energy to our community, and I’m excited to share some recent highlights and upcoming events that reflect the heart and soul of our association.

Buckle Play Day - 9/21

What a wonderful day we had on September 21st at our Buckle Play Day! It was a day full of excitement, friendly competition, and, most importantly, community spirit. There’s something truly special about seeing riders of all ages come together, cheer each other on, and celebrate their love for horses. I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Yvonne Lee, who has once again poured her energy and passion into leading this event series. Yvonne, your unwavering commitment to making this day so memorable each year is something we all deeply appreciate. To all the riders, buckle winners, and participants—congratulations! Your enthusiasm is what makes events like this so rewarding.

Upcoming 2nd Annual Fall Festival Open House - 10/12

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Fall Festival Open House, happening on October 12th. This is one of my favorite events, as it’s an opportunity for all of us to come together with friends, family, and fellow horse lovers for a day of fun, food, and festivities. Whether you’re new to the club or have been with us for years, this open house is a great way to connect with our community, enjoy some great activities, and share in the joy of the fall season. From riding demonstrations to grooming stations and delicious food, there’s something for everyone. I hope to see you all there with your friends and neighbors—let’s make it a day to remember!

Call for Nominations – Board Members

As the year winds down, it’s time to start thinking about the future leadership of our association. We are now accepting nominations for board members, and I encourage anyone who is passionate about the club and eager to help lead us into the future to step forward. Serving on the board is such a rewarding experience, and it’s a great way to give back to the community that gives us so much. If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved or taking on a leadership role, now is the time! We’d love to see new faces join the team and help shape the direction of our club. Please send nominations to SCCHA_1939@gmail.com, or submit them to any Board member. Nominations are open until the 2nd week of November.

Stay Connected

As always, I want to remind you all to stay connected with us through our website and social media. Keep an eye out for event updates, important announcements, and ways you can get involved. And don’t forget to share your own experiences and photos - we love seeing our members in action, whether it’s at events, on the trails, or spending time with your horses.

Thank you for making September such a success, and I’m looking forward to an even more exciting October! Your participation and your love for horses are what make this club the wonderful community it is.

Warm regards and happy trails,

Tami Moore, President

Gaited Horseshow & Playday:   We had a full weekend of fun and welcomed members and guests to camp at our facilities, participate in a fun potluck, line dance, and of course we had our first Gaited Horseshow and Playday.     There were six buckles awarded to the high-point winners by age group and membership status.   The club made over $1,200 even during the heat. I personally can’t wait for the next show and already designed the very unique buckle!!!

I want to thank everyone for coming to participate and watch. I especially want to thank the volunteers who helped this weekend in the heat.

Thank-You. Kathleen O’Neill

Buckle Show (September 21):  The Buckle show is the culmination of our summer Play Day series. There was a great turn-out with 21 competitors ranging in age from 3-85 years old and all vying for a silver buckle in their age group.
Making the whole day run smoothly, were the intrepid volunteers with extra special recognition going out to Yvonne Lee for organizing and running the entire series every year. We really appreciate it!

*sorry, Mary, we missed you at publication time but very much appreciate ALL of our volunteers and apologize if anyone is ever overlooked!

NEW ALMADEN DAYS JUMP-IN PARADE AND COMMUNITY EVENT

The community of New Almaden was thrilled to see such a great turn-out of horses and riders from our club at their summer parade. We looked sharp and the horses represented what the valley really likes to see out there. Thank you to all the members who rode, walked, and attended and to Yvonne for organizing it.
