This very special event will be a fascinating journey down the History Trail, where you’ll discover facts and hear stories about the majestic Santa Cruz Mountains.

We have a horse exhibit that included 4 corrals and two tables to display our history and current events. We're very excited - this will be our 3rd year at the County Fair. Volunteers assist with horse interactions and talking with visitors about our association. The County Fair (https://thefair.org/) offers an amazing opportunity to meet the public (80,000 people) and introduce them to horses - some for the very first time! It's also an incredible venue to advocate for the protection and preservation of our rural ranch land. If you can bring a horse, they would need to arrive by 12:15pm and stay till 7pm. Volunteers can rotate with shifts from 1-4, 4-7pm. There is also a parade on Saturday night if any of you would like to ride. If interested in being a part of the team, please let me know!

    Cheers,
    Rachael

    California Horse History
Horses have been a part of ranch life for Californians since the last 1840's when settlers came to the Golden State to stake their claim - both for gold and wide open pastures. The rolling hills, with stately California Oak trees, were the perfect landscape for families eager to set up ranches for grazing cattle. Many generations have come and gone, with equestrians now riding for pleasure verus livelihood, yet the rural setting of ranches is a welcome change to modern life here in the Bay area. Children's faces light up when they watch a horse nibble on a carrot and adult hearts skip a beat when they see horses running in a field.

    Home in Almaden Valley
The oldest Horse Association, Santa Clara County, was formed in 1939 and has played an important role in the Almaden Valley and helped to establish the California State Horsemen's Association.

Registration for our 3rd Annual Fall Festival Open House will open a month before our event. Click on the 'Register' button to the left when it become available. Registration helps us plan enough art and food supplies. The Open House is FREE to the public. Cash accepted for craft and food tickets.
