President's Message

Dear SCCHA Members,

As we reach the end of another wonderful year, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for making the Santa Clara County Horsemen’s Association such a welcoming and amazing community. December is a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration, and we have so much to be grateful for and to look forward to as we close out 2024 and welcome in the New Year.

A Big Thank You to Our Outgoing Board Members

First, I’d like to recognize our outgoing board members for their service and dedication. Their hard work, vision, and commitment have been instrumental in making this past year a success. From organizing events to managing club operations, each outgoing board member has given their time and talent to our association, and we are deeply grateful for all they’ve done. Please join me in giving a warm round of applause and appreciation to Bill Pope, Sharon Pope, Suzy Paulazzo, and Jayne Hesley who have served us so very well!

Welcoming the New SCCHA Board Members

With great excitement, we look forward to the installation of our new board members, who will carry on the work and spirit of the SCCHA. We are thrilled to welcome Chris Monahan, Stephanie Barada, and Wendy Fedde as they step into their roles with enthusiasm and dedication. We know they will bring new energy, ideas, and passion to help guide our association into a successful 2025!

Installation Dinner – December 14

And now, to celebrate together, we invite you to join us for the Installation Dinner on Saturday, December 14! It’s not too late to purchase tickets to this special evening, which will be filled with delicious food, wonderful company, and the official installation of our new board. This dinner is always a highlight of the holiday season and a cherished opportunity to come together as a club. I encourage you to reserve your spot and join us as we toast to the year gone by and to new beginnings.

Thank You for Being Part of Our Community

I am constantly inspired by the kindness, generosity, and community spirit of the SCCHA comunity. Whether through volunteering, participating in events, or simply being there for one another, your contributions make our association what it is. Thank you for your support, your friendship, and your love for the SCCHA.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season filled with family, friends, and plenty of time in the saddle. Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year ahead!

With warm regards,

Tami Moore, President

Welcome 2025 Board

Well, we finished the 2025 "election" in November.  There were not more 'Competitors' than open positions, so there was a 'White Ballot' and no formal election was needed. The new board nominees were peacefully (and happily) confirmed and there is even one remaining open Director position so please let us know if you are interested in having an official "say" in many of the club decisions.

We gratefully welcome the following three new Board members:  Chris Monahan, Wendy Fedde, and Stephanie Barada and look forward to a productive 2025.   A Director can choose their area of expertise to help or just give their advice, leadership, and vote to support the club's future initiatives/direction.   The Board meets to discuss on-going and new business at the clubhouse on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7:00-9:00 pm.

General Meeting Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
A traditional feast of turkey and ham with all the sides was prepared and served by the Board of Directors and Officers.

SCCHA Supported Maintaining and Restoring Bear Creek Stables
In a 5-2 vote, the MidPen Board of Directors approved a phased approach in having a non-profit group handle fundraising and multigenerational, public programming within the historic stable setting. Our Club teamed with 7 other horse associations to add our voice during open comments. Rachael's impassioned presentation certainly affected the outcome and we are so lucky to have her as our Public Relations Director.

Board Members Liz, Jennifer, and Shalla
served dinner and drinks.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:

Matthew Loggins

My name is Matt Loggins. I’m 24 years old and have been riding gaited horses for 4 years. I’m a registered vet tech and have a huge passion for helping pets in need. I’ve owned my heart horse, Sunny, for 4 years and have done everything with her, from gymkhana, cow chasing, roping, trail riding, and lessons.
(Also won a buckle at the Gaited Horse Play day this year
!)

Cathleen Venn

I have been involved with horses my whole life. I have a variety of breeds. My interests now are camping and trail-riding. I mentored Matt Loggins and got him involved with horses. I’ve wanted to join the Horsemen’s for some years now and I finally got 3 events in one year. I live in Royal Oaks and own “Curves”, a small family-friendly gym.

Castelino (Gehlhar) Family

Jessica and Ivar (parents) ride a mare named Dusty and a gelding named Jessy. Their children Wyatt and Elvera ride a pony named Blaze and an “old mare” named Miss May. We’ve seen them participating at the shows and Play Days and are glad to have them join us!

Meakin Family (Angela, Michael and kids Olivia, Maya, Mikey)

I have owned horses my whole life until we moved to California 8 years ago. We started leasing horses and have been leasing Shooter at Cathy Angell’s barn. I started off having a special day once a week riding myself, but it has turned into a special day once a week with my girls. Maya has had athe best time learning to ride at the Play Days. She will be coming for many years to come and her younger sister is not far behind her.
