  1. Hi, I am working with the Santa Clara County Fire Department on a community wildfire protection plan. We were hoping to engage your organisation in the process, I was hoping to find a contact email for a representative of the organisation that I can send information on the plan and an upcoming workshop to? Please email me back at the following.

  2. Hi, I am a member of SCCHA and also San Mateo County Sheriff’s Mounted Search and Rescue (amoung other horse groups in San Mateo County) and wanted to know if your grounds are for rent? If so, what would be the rental fee? Thank you.

  3. Dear Membership

Bernice Verone has passed away March 26, 2017 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was one of your long time members. My father was Gil Verone one of your famous cook/BBq worker past officer. I was also a SSCHA Jr past president. Many fun events I can remember going to. My mom loved the Horsemen and all the wonderful friends they had made. Was also a past officer. Yearly trail rides to the Costa Ranch, Convention trail rides to different cities, Salinas Rodeo and Parades. Wonderful memories. Please let your membership know. Thank You

    • Hi Jennie – thank you for letting us know and I will be sure and let our membership know of your Mom’s passing. So sorry for your loss.

  5. Hello,
I looked through your web site and saw no mention of horse rental nor riding lessons, both of which I am interested in.
Also, it appears that, based upon the above, I must own a horse to be an active member, is that correct?
Given all the above is true, can you point me to a more appropriate site? Thanks.

    • Hello Dennis- Thank you for checking out our website. We are a club that is dedicated to horsemanship, and a common interest in all things horses. You do not need to have a horse to join, just a love of horses. You are correct in that we do not rent horses, but we do have some members who offer lessons at their own locations. For rental horses, the only local one that I know of is at Garrod Farms in Saratoga. You are more than welcome to come to one of our General Meetings which occur on the 3rd Friday of every month. Social hour starts at 6:30 pm, dinner about 7:30 pm, and first time guests are free. We have multiple events throughout the year, many where we have lots of spectators who come to watch the competition & meet the riders and their horses. Please let me know if there is any additional questions that you might have and I will do my best to help!

  6. Hi! I am an intermediate rider looking for to lease a horse 3 days per week for trail riding, groundwork and to groom and love on. I live in Almaden and my schedule is flexible. I am tall so I am looking for a horse that is 15h or taller. Gender, color and age dont really matter as long as they are healthy with a good temperament : ) Please let me know if you know of anyone looking to lease their horse that might be a fit.

    • Hi Cristina- Thank you for your request and I will see what information I might be able to find about possible lease options. We board our horses at Lakeview, which is right across the street from Calero Reservoir and I think there are a couple horses looking for a leasor. Would you be okay if I passed on your information to a couple people who I think have possible lease horses?

  7. Hello:
I am an experienced rider who is interested in either leasing or “joining” someone with multiple horses who wants a riding partner. I’ve owned & leased horses before, and am looking for a new adventure.
I’m looking for a sweet, healthy horse with a good disposition as well as the camaraderie of riding with someone. I’ve recently helped with a Sweet Boy in Woodside, but he’s been retired and I really miss grooming & riding & scratching & smooching on him. I’m interested in trail riding, so I’d like to find someone who trailers into Calero or The Rancho Del Oro preserve and who would like a riding partner.
If anyone in your club knows of a situation that might work, please give me a call. Thank you so much. 😊🐴

  8. To Whom It May Concern,

This is more of a question or request than a comment. My wife and I would like to join those riding in the Morgan Hill, 4th of July Parade. I mentioned this Friday at the general meeting and dinner (when we also presented our application for membership). I know we need to purchase shirts. So if someone can contact one of us please we would greatly appreciate it.

    Mark and Rosemarie

    • Hi Mark and Rosemary! Thank you for reaching out. Angie Moffatt is organizing the parade this year so I have sent your request on to her. Glad to have you both as members!!

    • There are email addresses for the individual directors. Is there a particular question that you had and I can either answer for you or direct you to the right person?

  9. Hello! I am a falconer (licensed by the CDFW). I live very close to SCCHA, and I always see many squirrels on the grounds. I am looking for new places to fly my Red-tailed hawk, and it has crossed my mind that the squirrel holes may be hazardous for horses which may step in them. Can I fly my hawk there to catch the ground squirrels? (of course only when there are no events going on). I couldn’t find an email to directly address this question to, so I am posting it here. Thanks!
